Truth be told, Experience Expeditions has been born out of our delivery of expeditions for young people over the last 20 years; delivering quality, immersive, multiday expeditions to fulfil the Expeditions Section of the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. These experiences have taught us a lot about outdoor personal development and we would like to offer our expertise to your school.
We believe that we bring 3 very special qualities to your School’s expedition experience that make us the stand out choice as providers.
1 Commitment to being the most affordable and flexible option for your Duke of Edinburgh students and your school
We’ve developed a range of options to ensure that we can fit in with your aspirations for your students.
We can work with the school on a consultative basis, supporting your staff to grow a scheme within your school to the point where it is self-supporting. As it grows we can be adding our knowledge in the classroom and backfilling your expedition trips with our experience and expertise; ensuring safety, success and a quality learning experience for students and staff alike. We call this our Embedded Service
Equally, we can run the Expedition Section completely for you, providing training, equipment and planning sessions for the young people before taking full responsibility for the delivery of the Expedition section. This allows your staff to focus on supporting students with the remaining 3, more community based, sections of Volunteering, Physical Recreation and Skill, leading to the full award at each level.
We call this our Expedition Provider Service
Alternatively, we are also equipped to deliver the whole scheme as an official DofE provider; taking full responsibility for the support, mentoring and completion of the Award, from start to finish, enrolment to graduation. We call this our Scheme Provider Service
We can also provide bespoke team building and adventure expeditions to suit your development priorities
2 Our track record in delivering the highest quality, supervised wild country adventures for young people.
We’ve honed our skillset and maintained a faultless safety record over twenty years; planning and supporting young people on both training and assessed expeditions in the English Lake District, Snowdonia National Park and the Yorkshire Dales. To be clear, we don’t want to take your students on a walk along the canals and footpaths of Lancashire. As beautiful as these places no doubt are, we feel we would be robbing them of the true experience that awaits in the wilder parts of our fantastic countryside. It’s the difference between copying out a page or writing your own poetry!
3 Our understanding of the role of expeditions in the wider personal development of participants
Our staff have a real commitment and an innate understanding of the power of adventure in the "Great Outdoors" and the part it plays in the real physical, social, emotional and spiritual development of young people. We know because we’ve walked this path ourselves and guided literally hundreds of young people along it. We understand the ingredients of challenge, perceived risk, self and team reliance, sore feet and beauty that are required to mix up the perfect expedition experience. We also know how to support students through it without robbing them of their achievement. We feel passionate about delivering the perfect experience and have years of practical experience out in the wilds, in all conditions safely leading students
If you would like further information we would love to have the opportunity to come and discuss your needs and our ethos and provide an action plan for your school to consider.
